SINDAGI

ORIGINS:

In the year 2003 with the initiative of Fr.Frankie Serrao sj then Mission Superior of Bijapur Development Centre work in the district of Sindgi to work among the dalits of the area. But the work in that area was started by Fr.Paulose, Fr.Benedict  Swaminathan, and others. Under the leadership of Fr.Maxi Misquith works in Sindgi among the Dalits  progresed leading to the creation of SANGAMA Integral Rural Development Centre. We were involved in 13 villages working among the dalits through Self Help Groups.

In the year 2006 one hostel for the dalit children as a follow up of the School for the Child laborers started. In the year 2008 we purchased small property in the Sindgi town and started a residential facility. Thereafter we bought 19 acres of land to start the educational work specifically for the progress of the dalits.

Presently under the direction of the veteran Social worker Fr.Lawrence Pinto sj  we have started Kindergarten school for the dalits having a dream of starting educational Institutions for the dalits.
